$61 million in El Paso County unclaimed

EL PASO, Texas – In the state of Texas there is a total of $4 billion in unclaimed property and $61 million of that is in El Paso County.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office and County Judge Veronica Escobar are hosting two events open to the public to claim property.

Unclaimed property includes forgotten utility deposits or other funds, insurance proceeds, mineral interests, or royalty payments, dormant bank accounts and abandoned safe deposit box contents.

Representatives from the State Comptroller’s Office will be available Thursday and Friday to assist with claims.

Residents can also check online (ClaimItTexas.org) to find out if they have any unclaimed property.

To claim any money, you’ll need valid identification and your social security number.
